Expressive nose of dried pear and butterscotch. Very good ripeness for the vintage is married to a good creaminess and fine tannins. Excellent chalky minerality at the firm, long finish. Needs a bit of time to fully harmonize, but excellent structure, and a very long, elegant finish. (SP)

Sultry on the nose with some smoky spice notes, the wine opens quickly to offer spring flowers, pear skin and white peach. It’s every bit as balletic and elegant as Folatières should be. Nervous acidity keeps the flavors flowing through the solid finish.

The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a backward nose that demands coaxing, eventually revealing Granny Smiths, pear and petrichor aromas. The palate is very harmonious with a lovely spine of acidity. It’s delicately spiced with a vivacious and quite persistent finish. This is a very commendable Folatières that will age with style.
